Last day before leaving and feeling stressed. This time I did not do any planning ahead, but then it was not necessary because this is the programme we worked out for September last year. However accommodation needed to be booked and I simply could not get my head around this, feeling almost despondent after the various pandemic disappointments. So Andrea who had first suggested we do this now, she got going properly, researching accommodation, making reservations, following the Covid statistics in the various countries and keeping me informed in an effort to rustle up a bit of enthusiasm in me. A tremendous boost came from my son, Duncan, who said he will come with us for the last four days!

Well, I got out my backpack and sorted out what I needed to take and just now I have finished packing and it weighs only 6 kg, including a small bottle of water! During the walk, of course, the 1 1/2 liter water sack will be added, which means carrying 7 1/2 kg when we leave in the morning, slowly going down to 5 1/2 kg on arrival.

The length of the stages will vary between about 18 and 22 km, twice going up to 24 km. Staying in prebooked accommodation we will have plenty of time....

  1. Hope all goes well for you, we shall be following with great interest. I hope the weather will be kind to you and the walking not too arduous, some of those stages are very long!
    Good luck!

    1. Thank you, Sue! If you call the weather being equal to no rain, it is being very kind - no rain, but very hot. Today I will use my umbrella for the first on this camino...
