Glorious day today! Sunny and hot, but a fairly strong cool wind all day such that I did not unfold my umbrella at all, my hat and sweat band were sufficient to keep me going. Two long pauses of 1 hour, then 45 minutes. Plus two more of about 20 minutes. And my foot kept up beautifully - I had cut a big hole into a pad to go under the sole of my foot with the hole to accommodate the hurtful point on the sole. And it worked. Which is how I managed to keep up with Andrea. She slows down her normal speed for me anyway, but during the last few days I did not even manage that to keep up with her....
So we stayed with the olive groves, the tracks are still chalkily white - quite blinding in the sun. But today there was a lot of flat track, very little road and no bar in a village or a bar without a village along our track. However we had plenty to eat and drink and I was in such good shape upon arriving that I had only half an hour sleep and when Andrea set forth on a walkabout I went with her. I soon regretted my decision though, not because of my foot, but because of my back - it did not hurt, but the muscles felt tired even when I was just slowly walking along. So we ended up in the first bar we came to. Andrea then left for her usual walkabout and I started making my way home.
Meanwhile Duncan, my son, has arrived and while I am lying on the bed typing this Duncan has joined Andrea on her walkabout......

Loving your blog. Glad Duncan has met up with you and Andrea successfully, i hope you have a good walk today. x
ReplyDeleteAndrea - this is just amazing! This was supposed to be the year that I started, but it just didn't work itself out. My trial starts on Monday then goes through Oct 22. Eyeballs deep in that, but loving seeing your pictures and notes!
