Day 4. Friday. 26/05/2023. Alcaracejos to Hinojosa del Duque
Having arrived latish and extremely tired last night and with a relatively short stage for today we decided to get up late and take it easy. In addition rain was forecast for early this morning. And it started when we left the bar last night, pelting down during the night and was still at it when we got up at 8 am! Heaven lying in bed listening to the rain and not having to get up! Had breakfast in a bar almost next door and took off into ever lighter rain, soon to take off our rain gear - a lot of sunshine with occasional clouds and a nice breeze for the rest of the day….
Very easy today - practically flat all along. Very little road, mostly farm track crossing vast grassy areas punctuated with very old oak trees. The grass yellow with the lack of rain. No cattle, but later in the day we came across some sheep with their lambs - mostly assembled in the shade under the trees.
Lunch in the bar of a village conveniently located half way to Hinojosa del Duque - Fuente La Lancha. Nice long pause…
Still, in the end I was quite tired and glad to arrive in our hostal and take off my shoes. It is hard on the feet - me not being in the habit of carrying about a pack weighing 10 kg.
Hinojosa has an interesting church called La Catedral de la Sierra. It opened only at 8 pm for some sort of service, so we could not really look round. Looked it up in the internet which you might do too, if you are interested.
So much for today…
